Good morning and welcome to Day 21 of 31 Days of Resolutions!
Moms are truly amazing. We give of ourselves all day long for the benefit of our families and those we love. Motherhood is a noble profession, and some of you amazing women even have professions outside that! Y’all are incredible.
Some days I’m able to put on a cute outfit, do my hair and my make up and get done all the things I need to get done in the day. Other days it’s a struggle just to keep my head above water. Before I was a mother myself, I used to look at moms who went to the store in sweatpants or workout clothes, hair messy, no makeup on as though they were sloppy. Couldn’t they deign to get dressed before going to Target? Why don’t these women care about themselves and their appearance?
Now that I’m a mom I know that’s not the case at all! These women (for the most part) are putting their family’s needs before their own. The “mom bun” and the tired eyes don’t mean she doesn’t care about her appearance, it means she’s been putting other people first all day long. The self-sacrifice of motherhood is good, but left unaddressed I think a lot of us would run ourselves straight into the ground and not see it coming.
Today we’re going to do something for ourselves. We serve others all day long, today it’s time to turn the focus back on you, just for a little bit. Take a bubble bath after the kids go to bed, schedule a pedicure, take a nap! Whatever you need to help you feel restored and ready for another day of the best job in the world, do that! Your kids, your husband, and your loved ones will benefit from your renewed mind and spirit just as much as you will.
Have you signed up for daily email reminders? It’s not too late! You’ll also receive a free printable with all of the resolutions planned out!
