Good morning and welcome to Day 16 of 31 Days of Resolutions!
I’ve heard it said that water is the most essential element to life- because without water you can’t make coffee. In all seriousness, though, water is really important! Without getting all sciency (because I’m definitely not a scientist or a medical professional!), water is what keeps us going. When I don’t have enough water during the day I can feel it! I get a headache, I’m in a bad mood, and I usually end up eating a bunch of junk.
For the last 5 months I’ve been starting my days with a 16 ounce glass of water with the juice of half a fresh lemon squeezed into it. Fresh lemon juice has been shown to aid digestion and boost your metabolism. I can really tell that this small thing has made an impact on how I feel for the rest of the day. If I have coffee or breakfast before my lemon water, my stomach gets all kinds of angry!
Throughout the rest of the day I try to keep water with me wherever I go. I bring a water bottle like this one with me when I leave the house. When I’m at home I’ll usually keep ice water in a walled cup like this one with me as I move about the house. I think I drink more wate when it’s cold, but that might just be me.
Today let’s do everything we can do make sure we’re drinking a minimum of 60 ounces of water! You’ll definitely need more than that if you’re exercising, pregnant, or nursing!
