Good morning and welcome to Day 4 of 31 Days of Resolutions!
As soon as my daughter started eating solids, we started sitting down at the table together as a family for meals. Eating together is so much more than just sitting at a table and eating. Your children are learning social skills, manners and fine and gross motor skills while watching you eat. They are learning how to have conversations, how to interact with one another at the table, and most importantly, they’re bonding with you. At the dinner table is where we talk about our day; we ask questions of each other, tell funny stories from the day, and spend undistracted time together as a family.
Your family might look different than mine. It might just be you and your spouse, or maybe it’s just you and the kids. What your family looks like doesn’t matter, dinner together at the table is still invaluable time spent with one another.
So tonight leave the cell phones and the tablets in the other room, turn off the TV, and talk to each other. If this isn’t something your family is accustomed to doing, I think you’ll find that there really is no better way to spend mealtimes.
Have you signed up for daily email reminders? It’s not too late! You’ll also receive a free printable with all of the resolutions planned out!
