Did you know that there’s an easy way to clean out your closet? It doesn’t have to be a huge ordeal!
There are many advantages to cleaning out your closet- it helps keep your clothes organized, it saves money because you can see what you have and don’t buy multiples of one kind of item, and it just feels good to purge those things that you never wear anymore!
I have cleaned out my closet twice in the past year and it feels so good to remove the items that were just taking up valuable real estate! By using this method to clean out my closet it doesn’t take nearly as much time as you might think, and it helps me be more aware of what I’m wearing and what I’m ignoring in my closet!
So what are these “three easy steps?”
1. I turn my hangers backwards. Yep! It’s that simple! I find it easiest to turn them backwards when I switch my closet from winter to summer and from summer to winter clothes. I leave my dresses, pants, skirts, and sweaters alone. Most of those I don’t wear as frequently so the visual of flipping the hangers wouldn’t really matter as much and would be more work than it’s worth.
2. As I wear and wash each item I rehang them the correct way. At the end of the season I can see what I’ve worn, and what I haven’t.
3. Finally, I take a look at each item that wasn’t worn and decide if I should keep it or say goodbye!
It’s a new year, give this a try and see what happens! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how easy it can be to clean out your closet!
